LIBRARY INFRASTRUCTURE AMONG AIDED FIRST GRADE COLLEGES OF KARNATAKA STATE

The study investigates the current infrastructure facilities of  Aided First Grade Colleges and their libraries of Karnataka state, such as type, year of the establishment,  urban vs. rural; academic programs – UG and PG – Courses offered and co-education including the teaching,  non-teaching staff, and students strength. Also investigates the status of college library buildings; organization of a library into different sections; library staff – professional and supporting, library collection – books, journals, magazines and newspapers, classification and cataloging of books as well as library finance – the amount spent for the libraries during 2016-17. Reports the availability of computer hardware, software, and humanware infrastructure. It also suggests that very few college libraries require humanware to carry out library routine and ICT infrastructure should be upgraded from time to time, to cope up with current user demands.
